our story
RUNmyERRAND is about solving an age old problem - there is never enough time in the day, how are we suppose to get it all done? With RUNmyERRAND we can harness the power that has always existed in a community to get real things done. Leveraging the latest technology and the social networking paradigm, we are building trust and blurring the lines between and on and offline community. At RUNmyERRAND we are pioneering a trend that we are calling Service Networking. It was a cold evening in February of 2008 ...
Leah and her husband Kevin were getting ready to go out to dinner in the South End of Boston. They had already called a cab to come pick them up, when they realized they were out of dog food for their 100 lb yellow lab named Kobe. Having the cab stop on the way home would be a pain, and as they sat at the kitchen table, trying to come up with a plan for dog food, the idea for RUNmyERRAND.com was born. Kevin thought, "wouldn't it be nice if there was some place online where we could post our need?". They were certain that someone, probably even right in their own neighborhood could help. In the 5 minutes before the cab came to pick them up, they had bought the domain name RUNmyERRAND.com, and over dinner that night started creating the initial concept for RUNmyERRAND.
RUNmyERRAND helps individuals and small businesses in a community outsource their tasks and deliveries. Since the original idea and launch, RUNmyERRAND has come full circle by partnering with many pet stores in the Boston area, providing a quick and easy way to get dog food delivered. Kobe will never go hungry again!
